First of all, you’ll need to install “Bluetooth File Transfer” from the Android Market. It’s a free application and it’s pretty lightweight. Secondly, you’ll have to open an application capable of sending a file – in this case I’m using the camera application to send a photo only seconds after it’s been taken. Just press the Message icon in the top left corner and choose “Bluetooth File Transfer” from the list of options. If Bluetooth isn’t enabled, the application will prompt you and ask if it should be turned on – make sure it is turned on!

After a simple search for visible Bluetooth devices, you’ll have to pick one from the list of found devices. In this case I had already paired my computer with the X10 Mini to avoid all of that. It’s simple though – just choose a PIN on the phone (you might have to type it twice) and then type it on the computer again. That’s it. Your transfer should begin now.

This, by the way, is also how it works on the X10 and X10 Mini Pro, if you’re using the Bluetooth File Transfer application.

The marketing guys are giving you the opportunity to be the star in the promotion videos for these new headsets. All you have to do is head over to the Sony Ericsson Facebook page and record a video on your phone or webcam and publish it on their wall. The video is made in a few simple steps:

“Start the recording with 5 seconds of silence and then say:
Hello, my name is …,
I’m from …,
I love the sound of ….”

Hurry up and do this before June 7, and Sony Ericsson might be coming to you to film – and you’ll get a free bluetooth headset! Hopefully we’ll have more information about the headsets soon!

After having found a nice place and set up everything, I started recording while being eaten alive by about a thousand mosquitos. I was losing daylight and had to do it quickly. I managed to get only a few minutes of footage before a friend of mine called and after having talked with him, the sun was almost down. Now you know, so I’m sorry about the abrupt ending and rather poor video preview in general. I might add that the Elm and Hazel are pretty much the same phone, so I didn’t bother showing stuff on both of them.

I learned a few useful lessons though. When you decide to do something like this in a public forrest, make sure you’re not alone – else you’ll look like an idiot sitting in the woods talking to himself whilst filming it! You might also want to consider not having long phone talks while in the middle of doing stuff like this. And most importantly – make sure there are no mosquitos! I ended up getting about twenty mosquito bites – yikes! See what I’m doing for all of you?
