The updated Satio firmware has just reached SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) and is now ready to be deployed on most handset variants across the globe. Operator specific versions of the firmware have yet to arrive on SEUS, but that’s pretty normal. The update (R1CA037) ensures improved performance and speed, and includes a lot of bug fixes and fixes a lot of small annoyances, such as not being able to skip the boot up animation by pressing the screen. You still can’t control the volume when the phone is locked though.
I’ve just updated my own Satio and it took about eight minutes or so, including downloading the 105 megabyte update file and updating the handset. You won’t need to have more than around 10 % charge on your battery, but you might as well charge it to at least 50 % as a safety precaution. All your personal data and applications won’t be touched, but do perform a back up, just in case something goes horribly wrong.
Updates for the Aino and X2 will also soon arrive. I’ve got this from Sony Ericsson ![]()
Update: The software update for the Aino has also been released now.

yeah!!!
OT: was the satio bug only for UK variants or worldwide?
The software update for Aino has been released a few days ago. Currently available software is R7AA071.
The bug was only for UK but the software is world wide. It does contain more than the UK fix. So just update and become a happy camper. Like mee
An X2 update and the phone isn’t even out? Yikes!
It is indeed out in some countries. Here in Denmark for example.
Hm, in some? Any word on the rest of them? I.E. UK, US (even though I know it’s always so late for the US
The Aino new firmware is more stable but they have removed some touch functions (i.e. the fast play/pause forw.rew. “buttons” without entering in the touch media menu) or some aesthetics issues, like photos in the contact list… :-/
